Setting Foot In Africa
Talking about making a difference and taking action about it are two different things! Putting words into actions I have decided to spend several weeks in Nigeria to teach at Tansian University in Onitsha of Anambra State. The main topic I will be teaching will be entrepreneurship as I try to impassion the students to live a life of creative destruction and create their own opportunities.

Outside of teaching I will be spending time consulting with a water delivery company that the university owns. This is all being done in conjunction with Gratia International.

Back From Maui
We're back! As a team we raised $144,000 for Cancer research, so that was amazing. Oh, and that pained expression on my face? Well...with around 10km to go in the marathon I got a stress fracture on my right foot. I did manage to finish the full race, but may have lagged slightly behind the winner. Thanks to everyone on my team for a remarkable experience.

Pre-Marathon Planning
I play hockey, I don’t run. I beat people up in front of the net, I don’t run. I rollerblade, I don’t run. Well in September that is all going to change. To support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society I will be running a half marathon in Maui.

I know what you are all thinking; Maui, how tough can that be? Well let's see… running 21 km (or 13 miles for you Americano’s) in the blistering heat. Sweating until you feel like gulping up the sea, salt and all. Oh and muscle aches since I am used to sitting in front of my computer.

It will be worth it though. On the basis of current incidence and mortality rates, 38% of Canadian women and 44% of Canadian men will develop cancer in their lifetime and 24% of women and 29% of men will die from cancer in Canada.  The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has raised $480 million dollars for research and I will be doing my part to help support them.

I have pledged to raise $6,000 before September to help the cause. Please support me in this. You can donate by sending a cheque to the Leukemia & Lymphoma society or donating online.  If you would like to send a cheque please make sure you make it out to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and put on it that you are supporting my fundraising. The address to mail any donations to is:

Personal Mentoring
At the end of the day anything you build with your hands will eventually crumble to dust. How you affect living beings will be what will last for eternity as it gets past from one person to the next and grows beyond anything you imagine.

It has been my pleasure over the last number of years to be mentor and counselor to individuals on a personal and professional level. Being impactful and inspiring is one of the most rewarding things anyone can do.

Youth Groups
In Abbotsford and Kelowna I have had the pleasure of working with high school youth groups. Everything from eating 12 patty hamburgers, walks through the east end of downtown, and bible studies. It is amazing how much there is to learn from the youth of today and the benefit from impacting our future leaders.
